JMI is a non-profit facility serving juvenile offenders between 14 and 18 years
of age.
On average, 60 students attend our daily program, with another 25 attending
our evening
GED program. The at-risk youth enrolled at JMI participate in academics, vocational
training,
and undergo intensive behavior modification exercises. Essential to the behavior
modification
program is consistent feedback, rewards for positive and appropriate behavior,
and consequences
for negative behavior.
In addition to core academics courses, JMI offers students many marine and aquatic
activities, which have proven to bring students and staff together for a positive
impact. These programs include diving
certification and Safe Boat Handling and allow students to channel positive energies
into new activities.
The goal of our dedicated staff is to redirect students towards
a more positive approach to life through academics, guidance,
proper role models, and positive reinforcements. 80% of students
who attend our programs, successfully complete JMI’s specialized
programs and rejoin to their assigned neighborhood school or
complete the GED program at our campus. |
